Public Contracts Website
Connecting Public & Private Sector Business
[10 November 2008]
10,000 businesses have signed up to the Scottish Government's new online procurement website www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk to access public contracts worth billions of pounds. Finance Secretary John Swinney officially launched the website recently and revealed the interest generated so far.
Since July, the site has advertised 700 contracts from public bodies. Mr. Swinney said, "This project is a fundamental change in the way public and private sectors will do business in future, particularly by reducng red tape and removing the barriers that prevent us from working together with business. One single source of information now gives suppliers access to contracts."
The service is free and suppliers can register for an alert facility which will inform them by e-mail when opportunities in their particular line of business arise.
The service :
- Provides free access to the latest contract opportunities
- Delivers tailored contract information direct to your desk
- Encourages an open and inclusive market
- Builds strong communication links with buyers
- Is funded by the Scottish Government
